Another work training trip has taken us to Bangkok and Koh Samui for an adventure.
Our trip starts in Koh Samui where we stayed in a hotel right on the water (where else/). With a prisine pool and clean beaches, this place was awesome.
The weather, once again, treated us well and we wasted no time exploring the island and all it had to offer. In fact, This is an awesome place to visit as it has everything one needs for a holiday break and without the pollution of the more touristy places.
We spent time walking along the beaches and streets and taking in what Koh Samui had to offer. We would stop for a drink and bite to eat as well as a swim and it was a lot of fun.
The pics below from top to bottom and left to right... Flying from SYD to BKK, beach next to our hotel, breakfast at our hotel, the walk way at our hotel. the pool area (top photo is same pool area), one of our lunch stops on the beach, more neighbouring beachses.
There are plenty of bars if you want to party, but they were about 500-600m away from our hotel (we were at the quiet end)! We took a taxi to the markets and they have a lot of stalls and stuff to buy at reasonable prices - but you have to haggle!
After a few days at koh Samui, we headed to Bangkok (BKK) and our hotel was in a convenient place for everything - street food, restaurants, shopping, tours, Chinatown etc!
The view from our room was as you see in the photos below.
We did some exploring and found some street food places next to the hotel. For just a couple of dollars, we got a meal and a Coke or Sprite and the food was great! The photos below were taken just outside our hotel. Top right photo show the "dining hall" where we had our $3 meal with drink!
We did a canal tour through BKK in a longboat and we were amazed at the sights and sounds of this city.
One cannot say "no" to an elephant ride when it is on offer - correct?!
Stephanie had this experience on one of the tours!
We hired a cab and visited the floating food markets on one of the days in BKK. This was an amazing place andthe variety of food was huge.
There were people literally cooking in their boats while you waited and there was a common dining area to sit at to have your meal should you have chosen to do so. The prices were great and the experience well worth it.
We ordered some miniature crays which were the size of mutant yabbies! They tasted great too.
We were told that we should visit the Chinatown Street Food Markets while in BKK and that was a great piece of advice. We loved the experience and never seen anything like it before. It was packed with people and vendors and went for a good kilometer on either side of the road! Food that we had no idea about was being cooked in front of us and we were simply amazed at this place.
BKK is a busy and bustling place. There is a lot to experience and the people here are friendly. It's been 35 years since Andrew's first visit, and not much has changed!
